Here is what I like to do when I get an embark like that:
There are a lot of cool things to do, dwarves like the mist from waterfalls. (i love waterfalls - i had a 2 waterfall multi-z buildsite long ago and i still remember it fondly)
Bodies WILL be pushed through fortifications or grates by the force of fortifications (and survive somehow) - so you want to have it closed off to engender drowning first - then release the water.Īlso - the goblinite depositied may not appear on the map - it can be covered by 'mud' - so (c)laim the entire area after and your dwarves will sift the mud for stuff. What I like to do is have my entrance near the waterfall - flood the thing when bad guys get into it. Or if goblin ambushers trying to sneak into your fortress are pushed off the falls at the top by the current - land below - and shoot at your diners through the carved walls - causing your laborers to panic and not eat while they run back and forth trying to figure out what to do (yep) This is great for a main dining hall - unless you are in an evil biome and there are other sorts of mists that might get in (been there done that) - or really nasty evil birds that are able to fly through fortifications (been there done that too) If you smooth the stone behind it (near the bottom) and then carve fortifications the mist will penetrate the room beyond Kitfox Discord #modding-discussion channelīronzemurder and Oilfurnace (illustrated)
